Safety

ATTENTION: Non-compliance with the following instructions could cause injury to person, animals or property damage, manufacture does not accept any responsibility for improper use.
  • Check all local building codes before installation.
  • The consumer will assume all responsibility in the mounting and operation of the winch.
  • Do Not overtighten mounting bolts (this may cause stripping of threads of the winch base.
  • Children should never be allowed to operate or be near the winch/attic lift.
  • In case of emergency disconnect the winch from power source.
  • When winch/attic lift is being used and there is no load, apply tension to the cable, to insure the cable spools on drum correctly.
  • If safety cautions are not understood the cable can back lash and jam the gears. This will cause damage to cable and may cause damage to winch.
  • When winch/attic lift is not being used always disconnect or unplug the electrical plug from the power source.
  • Never allow children or anyone who is not familiar with the operation of the winch/attic lift come in contact or use the lift.
  • Never exceed rated capacity. Excess load may cause premature failure and could result in serious personal injury.
  • Never apply load on winch/attic lift with cable fully extended. Keep at least three full turns of cable on drum.
  • Secure load properly. When winching operation is complete, do not depend on winch/attic lift to support load.
  • Only operate the winch/attic lift if you are physically fit.
  • Be certain the load is properly seated in the saddle of the hook.
  • Never run the cable or basket (net) over a sharp edge.
  • Pay attention to the load at all times when operating the winch/attic lift.
  • Always ensure that you, and all other people, are clear of the path of the load. Do not lift a load over people.
  • Do not use lift as a personal lift.
  • Never place your hand in the throat area of a hook or in the vicinity of the wire rope as it spools onto the drum.
  • Before each use, the operator should inspect the winch/attic lift for wear or damage. Do not use if damaged.
  • Do not operate winch/attic lift if jamming, overloading or binding occurs.
  • Make sure all wire rope blocks, tackle and fasteners have sufficient safety margin to handle the required load.
  • On all supporting structures (brackets, trackbar, winch mounting plate, etc.) ensure winch/attic lift is firmly mounted and that all fasteners are in good condition and tight.
  • Never abuse winch/attic lift.
  • On push button operation, Up=wire winding on drum (IN); Down=wire winding off drum (OUT).
  • The quickness of the depressing motion will determine the amount of movement. Excessive use of this quickness (up and down) motion may cause motor overheating and winch damage.
  • When the winch/attic lift has not been in use for a long period of time, check that the mountings are in good order before starting up.
  • Check several times that the up/down button and all electrical cables are all functioning correctly.
  • Manufacture is not responsible for any breakdown or accidents resulting from lack of proper care, incorrect use or installation by unqualified persons.
  • Do not overload the basket (net) 100 lb. cap.
  • Always hook the basket (net) by its four corners. When unloading from the basket (net) up in your attic, make sure you are a safe distance from the attic opening.
  • Make sure you keep the load between you and the attic opening.
  • When using the winch other than as the attic lift, use the same safety rules and remember that the winch is not a TOY but a MECHANICAL TOOL.
  • Remember, proper rigging and lifting techniques are the responsibility of the operator. It is the owner's responsibility to see that every operator reads and understands the WARNINGS AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS before using the winch/attic lift. Use of chain, wire rope or replacement parts other than as supplied as original equipment on the LIL HERCULES ATTIC LIFT may lead to dangerous operation. Accordingly, we cannot be responsible in such cases and our warranty would be voided. Manufacture takes no responsibility for work or expense incurred in connection with repair or replacement see warranty card. We accept no liability hereunder, whatsoever, for consequential damages or for the negligence of abusing any WARNINGS AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS listed herein.
